Cold Comfort Farm is an engaging and humorous satire of English Society at the turn of the century. Stella Gibbons has a true gift for wit and I especially enjoyed the old matriarch shut-in who claims throughout the book, "I saw something nasty in the woodshed". We can only imagine what she has seen. A must read for anyone with a sense of humor or anyone who needs a good laugh. The characters are eccentric and funny and you cannot read this book without laughing. I don't like to re-read books but I will definitely be re-reading this one.

Fun to read, slows down some as the story develops, mostly satisfying end.
