First installment in a series. Good read. Set in England. A young couple pull up stakes in the city to purchase a run down cottage in an isolated village. The young man used to summer there as a child with his family but has not been back since his policeman father abandoned the family. The cottage they buy was owned by the mother of a young man (known as a friend during summer vacations) that everyone believes commited a gruesome murder years ago. The case is revisited by Cold Case Unit and the young man. Interesting setting descriptions. Coffin Trail refers to the trails used a century ago in order to bury their dead - they carried the coffin over the mountain to the nearest church for burial.
