If you want to read a character's constant ruminations about how she'd feel getting raped....and that her body would probably enjoy it, saying "This is what I was made for", then, read this book. This character is portrayed as strong, independent and assured - and as having this deep, dark, secret fantasy of enjoying being raped by a man who smells of sweat, filth and urine. And, of course, when the sexual assult does come, it is presented as justified becuase, after all, she was an "aggressive woman".

Great series, but parts of this particular book are - in my opinion, sick, wierd, awful and encourage the beliefs that women not only want to - but SHOULD BE - raped.

Meanwhile, a second storyline is the detective, John Coffin, solves a rape/murder who was raped by a gay guy as denial of his homosexuality. The other gay guy in the story, also in denial of his sexual orientation, is murdered, almost to the relief of his mother.

I read it becuase I never stop a book once I've started it, but I feel I need to wash out my brain to get out the nastiness, the filth.
