Same author as the Shopaholic Series, just penned under a different name. This book was a quick read, maybe not quite as funny as some of the books under the Sophie Kinsella name. IMHO, if you like the Shopaholic books, you will probably enjoy this book.

If you like Sophie Kinsella (which I do) you will like this book. Although not quite as funny or cute as the Shopaholic series, it's very similiar in the style that it is written. It reminded me a lot of Sex and the City (though this book is definetly NOT dirty at all) and I literally read it in 2 days. Very good.

Okay, so as Madeleine Wickham, I mostly cannot stand Sophie Kinsella. This book is a perfect example of the distaste I have for the nomme de plume of Wickham. In Cocktails for Three, I just couldn't get over some of the immorality that was going on around which I wish I could explain more but there are just too many spoilers. As Sophie Kinsella, the author's work relies on the characters to figure themselves out even though they may be pideonholed into categories based on their outward appearance. As Madeleine Wickham, I feel like the characters are skewed and just don't make sense. They really have no moral baseline, especially some of the characters in this book, or carry on way too far, making the story unpalletable and just plain annoying. I cannot recommend this book to anyone who is searching for another book written by the author as Sophie Kinsella. I'm afraid to say that, in my opinion, the writing just isn't the same and isn't nearly as effective, meaningful, or even entertaining.

I could not get into this book and there were too many main characters for me. I kept putting it down, then skipped ahead to see if I could get interested. Eventually I just put it down for good. Sorry, I love Shopaholic and the other books she wrote thereafter...
I wasn't as happy with this book as I thought I would be. Love her other ones but this one seemed really flat. The characters just didn't seem to develope as well as they could have. Story dragged abit in spots but that just maybe me. Just didn't think it was up to her normal writing standard.
I really enjoyed this book. I got hooked on the three different characters and their storylines, and couldn't put it down.

Three ladies who make sure to have a meeting of the minds every month. The general theme of the book smells of Sex in the City, but for me that was an okay thing to go into as I loved the show (and plan to read the book). So I had some good hopes going into the book. I also was excited because so far I have enjoyed the Shopaholic series, and this is the same Author, different name.
Sadly the book did not live up to my hopes. While I love Sophie Kinsella but under the name Madeline Wickham she just falls flat. The book is not nearly as funny as the shopaholic series, and there just seems to be something else missing as well. The women in this book come off as just plain shallow to me. Where while our lovely Shopaholic has issues, she also shows she can be a good human. I just dont see that in Three Cocktails, so in my humble opinion this is a big pass.

This is a good story about three friends that meet for drinks after work in London's swankiest bar once every month. They continue meeting and talking even after the circumstances of their lives change.
Very different from the Shopaholic books, more dark, but more substance.
Hilarious. Ms. Wickham writes just as good of stories under her real name as she does her PEN name! Loved every minute of the book!
I found this book to be a lot slower than the Shopaholic books, but I have a feeling this was meant to be a little more serious than those. However, Madeline Wickham (also know under the pen name Sophie Kinsella) did an amazing job.

I enjoyed this quick read book. I think it has something everyone can realte to. My cover is different than the one shown in the picture. Mine is a aqua color with a champagne bottle, a champagne glass and sunglasses drawn on the cover. I believe mine is the American release and the above may have been the UK release.
This is another name for the author Sophie Kinsella. This is by no means as good as Undomestic Goddess. I had a hard time getting into the story.

A fun chic lit read written by the author of the Shopaholic series, Sophie Kinsella. (Madeline Wickham is her real name). Althugh I loved the shopaholic books more (they're my favorite chic lit of all time), this was a great book and a fun read.
This author, Madeleine Wickham, is aka Sophie Kinsella. I just loved her "Can You Keep a Secret?"...and when a friend here at PBS raved about this book, I googled it up, and knew "laughing out loud" was exactly the choice for my next read! GREAT book!
Sophie Kinsella (Shopaholic series) actually wrote this book using a pen-name. It is a standard entry in the chick-lit genre, with 3 female characters. They are all friends until a chance encounter changes the dynamic of their friendship. It is a light, entertaining read. Great for a vacation when you don't want to think too much, but you do want to be entertained.
Cute story. Took about 3 chapters to get into it but I really liked it. It was the story of 3 best friends. A nice, light read!

The mother character, Maggie, went through many of the same things that I did as a first time mom, so it was great to see that "real" mom versus the "sugary-sweet" characters that gloss over what being a first time mother can really be like. Jennifer Weiner's books are also like this, so add Wickham to the list of authors that can portray real characters. I highly recommend this book!!

Romance, but with a chicklit aftertaste. I kept picturing Jaime Murray as Roxanne, and sometimes I'd think of Maggie as the Miranda character from the Sex & the City TV series. (Madeleine Wickham writes the Shopaholic books under the name Sophie Kinsella.)
