Over the past few years, I've understood that I LOVE books like this one. Obviously, I was in school at a time too close to the ancient history in this book for my teachers to have mentioned these theories. However, Charles Rivers has written a series of books on ancient man and the people who initially inhabited North America (another good one is The Mississippian Culture: The History and Legacy of the Ancient Indigenous Culture in North America).

This book is great because the author delves into the various theories of how man got to North America. They explain each theory, why it sounds good, its proving points (if any), and why it might not be true. Initially, men were hunters and gatherers who traveled to where the game was. About all we have as proof they existed are their discarded tools.

This was such fascinating reading that I couldn't put it down. The authors offer an extensive list of reading sources to continue investigating these theories.
