I decided to read a bit different book than I'm used to about the Amish. From an Englischers point of view. I felt that there were a few redundant parts of the book but for the most part it was good. There were a lot of characters to keep straight without a lot of description so that you get to know them.

Even the Amish have bad people among them. Professor Mike Branden is a newly deputized sheriff's deputy and disguises himself as an Amishman and looking every bit the part. He is driving an Amish buggy trying to catch some occult robbers masked as Amish with goat faces. He comes across a a fatal accident that kills a crooked Amishman, who is incidentally is very land rich with a woman English partner. Incidentally, he ( the crooked Amishman) just repossessed 8 Amish farmers land. A policeman dies in the accident and the chief of Police is hospitalized with severe burns. Then The English woman partner's house partially burns to the ground and she is missing. Bishops Weaver, and Cal Troyer ask Mike Branden to meet with them to see if he can help them.He has lived amongst the Amish his whole life and Troyer and the Chief of police have been lifelong best friends but in a short time during the summer he is over his head with crimes to investigate with 2 young inexperienced policeman. The Chief is in the hospital with severe burns and another policeman is dead. Is that enough for a newly deputized sheriff's deputy to figure out?
