As with all of Cook's books, they stay with me long after I finish them. This was another haunting story that I still think about.

Thomas H. Cook is one of my favorite writers for his haunting, lyrical prose. This book is one of his darker ones, delving into the depths of insanity, perhaps not as compelling as his award-winning Chatham School Affair, but no less brilliantly written. Its gradual buildup of suspense to the climax is flawless, and he has a way of drawing you into the fog that made me feel uneasy enough that I could not read this book at bedtime, having to put it down and move to lighter fare so I could finish it in daylight. His books are always an experience - read them.

This book started off very good. It kept me interested. I have to say the ending was alittle bizarre and the book did tend to get confusing on me a few times. Its a good read but not my favorite.
As usual, Thomas Cook stays with you long after you've finished reading. This story is about a descent into madness...but you're never really sure who is descending...you do have to pay attention when reading though, no tv in the background.
I didn't need to finish this one--having personal experience with the subject it is heart-rending to try toc comprehend what a person is dealing with being schizophrenic.
I expected this book to be more of a mystery. It was mostly about whether the main characters had suffered the same fate as their father, which was having schizophrenia. There was some mystery involving that, whether what the sister thought was crazy or ended up being the truth. Overall, it kept me reading just to see where the story was going.
