A tightly paced story that is hard to put down...Rice's message remains a powerful one: the strength of precious family ties can ultimately set things right.

Rice uses 8 main characters to look at how we struggle with emotions which hold us together at the same time that they push us apart. Terminal illness is the catalyst to explore how we behave when those we love either don't live up to expectations, or exceed our expectations. This book is an emotional roller coaster while it entertains and satisfies. If you've ever lost a loved one you might recognize yourself here. Although medical details seem unlikely, the relationships ring true. I really enjoyed this book and am about to go look for more by Luanne Rice.

I found this book extremely sad. It is about a woman who has had cancer and starts to rebuild her life. She falls in love but her future is very uncertain.

This is the first Luanne Rice book I have read. What a beautiful story. This author knows how to make you fall in love with the characters right from the beginning. This is a beautiful story of finding your way back home. It is a story of love and family and learning to live life to the fullest because you never know what tomorrow may bring. Just lovely!

Typical 'escape from societal restraints and recover amidst nature' romance, yet it manages to connect its characters to me. There are characters that make you want to blame for everything that is wrong, but you can't, because they try their best to make things work.

Truly an emotional and touching book. I read it in one sitting. Death is always lurking in the future, but knowing and accepting it as the inevitable is what allows us to appreciate life, and everything that it brings, that much more.

What a wonderful love story. It involves family members for three generation and how their lives dovetail. The story takes place in isolated parts of New York state and Maine. The characters are very real. Sometimes you don't know whether to hate them, feel sorry for them, or want to hug them. The best part of the book is the last one-fourth of the book. I cried and cried. Big tears rolled down my cheeks. I wiped the tears away so I could finish the book. Read it. You'll love it.

Sarah Talbot surely thought she'd never live to see another birthday. But against all odds, she beat the disease that threatened to take her life and she reopened her bedding shop, Cloud Nine. It is a new beginning for Sarah - a fresh start at life that few are given. It is a time to take roads she always passed by, to experience a world she'd all too often watched from the sidelines. And Sarah is determined to take every advantage of her newfound opportunity. Her first adventure comes during a special birthday present from her friends: a ride over upstate New York in a small chartered plane. From there she views the spectacular autumn foliage. Yet, as so often happens when one takes chances, the unexpected occurs. For it is on this flight that she meets Will Burke, a former Navy pilot whose strength and confidence attract Sarah as much as the vulnerability he tries hard to conceal.
