I enjoy medical fiction, so this book appealed to me. It is not a book that I would want to read over and over again, but it is a nice, light book which is entertaining at the same time it educates the reader about medical research and Native American (Blackfoot) history and culture.

The book does take a great deal of its plot from history and from an amalgam of various other fiction, which takes a great deal of guesswork out of solving the mystery. But it still is an enjoyable enough book to spend your time with while at an airport or doctor's office.

Took me a little while to get into the story, but once I did, I enjoyed it. It has 3 different storylines going, but they all involve the Blackfeet tribe in Browning, Montana and the woman doctor on the reservation, Dr. Isabel McLain and all come together late in the book.

After the hantavirus killed several of the Native Americans, a pharmaceutical company wants to immunize the entire tribe against the deadly virus, but they run into a wall when they approach the doctor and the Blackfeet tribe. They want no part of it!

Meanwhile, a mining company wants to do exploratory drilling on the reservation for gold, again not received well.

Both of these companies have a lot at stake in their endeavors and will not take no for an answer and the ensuing battles is a no holds barred kind of fight.

And, Dr. Isabel is fighting her own personal battles with her soon to be ex husband, but she has no idea how far he'll go to take his revenge against her.
