There are a lot of different things going on in this book, the newest in the Booktown series. Tricia is having her place remodeled and can't live at home. Her father has come back to town again after previously skipping out and leaving a trail of debt and petty theft in his wake. And then a body shows up outside her bookstore right after a signing. While the mystery is an integral part of the book, it really takes a backseat to the drama surrounding Patricia and Angelica's parents, particularly their father. We got a glimpse of some of the family drama in the last book, Title Wave, and it is really fleshed out here. Good mix of family drama and mystery.

I enjoy books from Lorna Barrett and this one is no exception.

Renovations continue at Tricia's loft/apartment over her bookstore. When John, Tricia & Angelica's father, returns to town after an abrupt departure a couple months ago, things go downhill. The village "jinx" title is very much in play on this one.

Things are looking brighter for Tricia Miles. She's started eating real food, other than just salads and plain chicken breasts. Her sister Angelica is even teaching her how to cook! The renovation of the 2nd and 3rd floors of her bookshop being turned into her new home is coming along. However, it is a lot louder than she expected. And dustier! Then her father turns up and mayhem follows. Eventually her mother, who has hated Tricia since her twin brother died, comes to town and sparks fly!
