A fine history of one of the biggest empires lasting for about 1000 years yet really little known to us westerners. I recommend it especially if you need to fill in your knowledge of history
An entertaining writer (well, he's British, what do you expect?). He doesn't seem to be a professional historian, like he isn't strictly chronological. It could use a bettr map.
