I really like Nix's Old Kingdom series. I thought I might not like Clariel, since I know she has a sad ending, but Nix doesn't show us Clariel's descent into evil. Instead he goes back to her as a teen, and we get a girl who knows exactly what she wants - it's such a small thing - but none of the adults around her will pay any attention. She doesn't want to do what she does, it's just that she feels all her alternatives are worse. And then there are the unintended consequences. As always, good world-building and interesting characters. I especially enjoyed seeing Moggett again.
