I LOVED Clan of the Cave Bear! It was my first historical fiction novel to read, and I loved everything about it. Auel is excellent at describing plants, animals and people of those days. This is the first story I've read or heard about "Cavemen" that didn't depict them as stupid or "Fred Flinstone-esque". It is amazing how much you can relate to these characters. The story is attention-grabbing and interesting. I loved the combination of story and history. I feel like I was entertained, but that I also learned something in the process. I highly recommend the entire Earth's Children series!

Awesome historical fiction about a human cavewoman adopted by a clan of her more primitive cro-magnon type humanoids and her struggles to adjsut to their rigid society. Love it.
