When her father dies, Mariah realizes that her family's ranch was bought with stolen gold, and the rightful owner is on his way to claim his property. Mariah and new owner Slade must deal with a cattle rustling scheme as they wait for Slade's family to arrive.

I like to read a good western once in a while, and this book did not disappoint. There was plenty of action and romance to keep the plot moving along, and I would like to read more by this author.

This was a heart-touching, western romance, which I very much enjoyed. It is a story that you will remember with a smile, long after youve read the last page. Mariah is a wonderful character with a heart for God and those who need love. She is someone that readers will want to emulate in their desire to be the person that God created them to be.

Slade is a man with a one-track minda mind to get back what he thinks belongs to him and his family. Hes kind of a bull-in-the-china shop kind of guyrough around the edges, to say the least. Little by little, the author allows us to see his true heart.

In addition to the romance, the author has written a good story with excitement and tense moments. If you like historical fiction in an Old West setting, dont miss reading Claiming Mariah by Pam Hillman.

Ever since hearing about this book, I was excited to review it. The plot sounded so interesting and I love a good historical. Needless to say, once I picked it up and started, I didn't put it down until the end. I even had someone else who wanted to read it at the same time:) The characters are so well written I fell in love with them immediately. Especially Mariah. Slade took me a little bit. I know he was hurting so he automatically lashed out at everybody but at the same point, so was Mariah. She just seemed so strong compared to him. Then about the middle of the book I fell in love with Slade too. My heart ached for him and his troubles, especially when you finish and find out what really happened all those years ago.

I really liked Mariah's grandmother as well. She is kinda quirky but also a well of wisdom and knowledge. Pam really brings to life the time period and the scenery. I love when an author pens the detail so well that you can see it. I can almost feel the dust and the heat but also see the beautiful mountains and valleys. Oh, and the gun fight? Spot on in detail and has you sitting on the edge of your seat! Okay, maybe not quite but very well written. Absolutely loved this book and can't wait to see what the author has in store for her readers. The end of the book has a sneak peak of the next novel and boy does it sound interesting. Wonderful job Pam!!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% mine. No monetary compensation was received.

So good!! Pam Hillman, (who happens to be a fellow Mississippian!), has written an excellent cowboy book with wonderful characters. Forgiveness is the key if both main characters will be able to move on with their lives together. I'm hoping for more books about this Western family! Highly recommended!
