I really enjoyed this historical novel set mostly in Rome during 62-54BC. The story follows Catullus, a young poet, and his torrid affair with Clodia, whose brother Clodius is a rival of Julius Caesar. Other historical figures, including Pompey, Crassus, Cato, and Cicero, are involved in political intrigues during the years when Caesar was in Gaul and Britain.
