Gil knew she needed someone as young as she was, with that same vulnerable, kind spirit. He had two little girls to think about-and a lifetime of hurt. But there was something about Kasie that made him hungry.
It wasnt just passion..although he was aware everytime she was close to him. No, it was the sort of hunger a man got when he was standing outside inthe snow with a wet coat and soaked jeans, looking through the window at a warm, glowing fireplace. He couldnt explain the feeling. But they sure did make him uneasy.

Twenty-two-year-old Kasie Mayfield applies for a job as John Callister's secretary at the Double C Ranch right out of secretarial school, however it's John's older brother Gil that requires most of her attention as he only has a part time secretary named Pauline. Pauline is wealthy in her own right and only took her job with Gil because she wants him for a husband. Unfortunately for Gil, she knows nothing about her job, so Kasie winds up doing it as well as handling her regular work.
Gil has two children, five-year-old Bess and four-year-old Jenny and they adore Kasie. This bothers Gil, who is a widower, because he's not looking for a mother for his girls and he tells Kasie to stay away from them. This is hard for her as she loves the children and she needs their love as she's getting over the tragic death of her twin brother and his wife and daughter, who were killed when their small plane was shot down by rebels in Africa.
Gil finally sees the light and changes Kasie's job from secretary to governess and takes her along on a trip to Nassau to watch the girls, while he and Pauline enjoy a vacation. Pauline is determined to get ride of Kasie at any cost, but Kasie is determined not to let that happen.

A newer romance from Diana Palmer. Here she tells the story of young Kasie Mayfield and how she is ultimately swept off her feet by her new boss, the enigmatic Gil Callister. A quick read in Ms. Palmer's classic style.

As I am a Diane Palmer Book Lover, my review may be a "little slanted" I thought the sparks that flew between Kasie and Gil flew like crazy. Gil wasn't to quick on the draw at figuring out Kasie but when he did, "look out Kasie" Great Read!!Great Book

I have never read Palmer before. Usually my taste runs a little bit edgier and less about god, but I found this story very sweet and sexy without being dirty.
Palmer did a very good job making Gil into a likeable jerk. I have no idea how she did it but if I really listened to everything Gil said to Kasie, I would have no idea why she liked him other than he was a good kisser. He said awful things to Kasie but usually ended with a scorching kiss to make up for it. Somehow it translated to tortured sexy soul while any other writer Gil would have come across as a verbally abusive jackass.
Kasie was so very nice, maybe too nice. She wasn't the smartest tool in the shed (really, you are going to leave the kids to be watched by Pauline the secretary who obviously hates them?). But she bantered quite nicely with Gil and that made up for her lack of a backbone towards Pauline.
Very quick, easy read. Everything wraps up nicely in a fairy tale ending. I hope her other books are just as good.

Sparks flew the moment Kasie Mayfield arrived at Gil Callister's sprawling Montana ranch to temporarily care for his two adorable daughters. Yet never in her wildest dreams did the innocent young woman imagine that her formidable new boss would sweep her off her feet with his potent charm. Before long, she was in love so deeply that it made her heart ache. But how did HE feel? The enigmatic rancher was so difficult to read. Still, she couldn't imagine spending her days--or nights--with anyone else but Gil. Could Kasie convince the hard-edged widower that a circle of gold... belonged on her finger?
