I loved this book. It tells the story of two girls who were neighbors, one pretty (Cinderfella) and another not so much (Cinder Edna), who ended up going to the ball on the same night and meeting their prince. It's laugh out loud funny, down-to-earth and will probably make kids see fairy tales in a new light.

This book was given to my 4yr. old daughter as a gift.
It's sort of the Anti Cinderella or any other Fairy Tale love story. It tries to make it a point to show little girls that a woman can be independent and fend for herself. That she should work hard & earn what she has as opposed to waiting for Prince Charming to come along and take care of her.
Nice concept, but I personally like to see my girls eyes light up when they hear the end of the "Traditional" Princess stories..

Cinder Ella and Cinder Edna live next door to each other in exactly the same situation. Ella bemoans her fate. Edna cleans bird cages for pocket money and tries to keep happy. When the ball arrives, Ella wishes for a fairy godmother. Edna had a dress on layaway and takes the bus. Edna meets the prince, is bored, and dances the night away with the prince's brother. Both Cinders run when midnight chimes and leave shoes behind. The prince finds Cinder Ella by using the slipper. The brother finds Edna by calling every Edna in the phone book and asking how many recipes she knows for tuna casserole.

Why I recommend it: The Cinderella story has been redone in a very clever way. Cinder Ella had a very boring life after she was married and Cinder Ella is shown laughing while reading a joke book with her husband.
