Bob Dylan is one of the heroes from my youth. As a
high school student in the 60's I had the Triumph
motorcycle and the curly hair and memorized many of
his songs. I was expecting to enjoy this book and I
wasn't disappointed. It chronicles many of his early
years starting in Hibbing MN, moving to Dinkytown (
the area around University of Minnesota where I also
hung out when I lived in Minneapolis ), and then to
the coffeehouse scene in NYC where he started out
singing Woody and Hank, but developed his own song
writing skills that would move a nation wracked by
racism and war. Everyone knows that he is the best
songwriter in the last 60 years, but now we know he is
just a good writer period. His style gives the events
great personal description that gives a texture to the
moment the reader will hear and smell and feel.
Highly recommended.

I love Bob Dylan but this was long. I'll stick to the music.
If you like Bob Dylan you WILL like this book.
loved it.. written in his typical poetic style.. all his own.
My copy of this book is not in pristine condition, but someone might value the life of Bob Dylan if better copies are not available. My husband adored the book. I find Dylan self-centered and basically an unkind person.
my husband is a dylan fan; didn't tell me anything about the book though
