My favorite series of all time is Anne McCaffrey's Pern! This book has short stories that are a follow-up to Dragonsdawn, the prequel to the series (How the dragons and people came to live together on Pern). Such an incredible story! I highly recommend it to kids and kids at heart -- I highly enjoyed reading this when I was young, and rereading it as an adult!
