Matteo is the King's equerry and had a hand in Marie/Leo's relationship. (And with Sebastian- Max's brother and Torkel's (a palace security guard) relationship). Cara is part of a consultant firm hired to find inefficiencies and to try and turn around Eldovia's watch export business. Cara is also a workaholic and does not have time for relationships.
I did like that Cara is older than Matteo (35 and 30). They start out as enemies, consistently butting heads. Cara is good at her job, she has a good attention to detail and she is relatable and honest. I can also say the same about Matteo. I found I did not like this as much as the first 2. I don't think Cara/Matteo had much chemistry and the first part of the book dragged.
