Christmas Feasts
Christmas Feasts
Author: Lorna J. Sass
A cultural history, all about how western cultures have celebrated the holiday season from the days of the Roman Saturnalias through the days of Victorian feasts. It's only secondarily a cookbook, although to its credit, for those who want it to be a cookbook, it serves that function, too.

This book offers a glimpse into Christmas' past by way of the banquet table. Starting with as far back as Christmas goes - its roots in the ancient Saturnalia celebration, the author shares historic recipes that were used then. She proceeds to Medieval Christmas feasts, then through the 17th and 18th Centuries, and finally to the Victorian age. She has recipes and suggestions throughout to recreate any feast you could wish.
