Very impressed with this book. I am not a huge Macomber fan. I find that I either hate or love her stories. This book is definitely on the love side.
"5-B Poppy Lane" is the best Macomber story I have read so far. I loved the story within the story. I think Ruth and Paul's story was very well done and so sweet. Many times in romances, conflict is forced to try to make the story interesting. Characters act foolishly and the story doesn't make sense. This story was nothing like that. Ruth and Paul had legitimate issues to resolve and their reactions were believable. Woven into their story was Helen's (Ruth's grandmother) story of her life during WWII detailing her lost and ultimate return to life. Absolutely beautiful and a must read.
"A Cedar Cove Christmas" was a cute rewrite of the birth of Jesus. If you have never read Macomber, know that she is very Christian. The story was okay. I have to say Mary Jo's brothers (the Wyse brothers) got a little bit annoying with their Three Stooges antics. Macomber also hammered it a little too hard to let the readers know this is Nativity story just in case we are completely dense. It was sweet and I always appreciate that Macomber writes the best and most realistic home birth scenes. Decent read but the first story was so much better.
I was hesitant to read this book because I had just finished another two story combination Macomber book that I wasn't too fond of, but I'm very glad I read this one.

I always enjoy her Christmas novels, and enjoyed this one, also. They are both reprints, but I was glad to find them together in one book.
