i loved this one!! The last 2 or 3 by Sparks have been a bit of a disappointment to me, so I was a bit hesitant to get into this one. BUT it was worth it! It was very entertaining and got me from page one. I was curious as to the choice which doesn't come into play until a good 3/4 of the way in. But still, the book was a rare treat finally!! YEAH!

I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and I have loved all of his books. However, I must say that I thought this one was especially well written and not predictable. I couldn't put it down and finished it in one day!

Nicholas Sparks never ceases to amaze me with his writing talents - he's a man for crying out loud and the stories that he puts on paper are as if he's an overly compassionate woman. I don't mean to sound sexist but not many men can write the way he does and with such compassion and conviction. What an AWESOME book this was - I thought I had the ending figured out, oh no - he totally had it changed than what I figured it out to be. Great book!

This excellent book by Nicholas Sparks asks the question, how far will you go for love? I loved the story of Travis Parker and Gabby Holland falling in love. The Choice at the end of the story will surpise you. This book definitely made me feel good!

I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and I have been since 2000. I look forward to reading every book he writes, and I was super excited about this one but.....it just didn't reach the bar. Nicholas Spark's has set such a high standard for himself and I just didn't feel like this book reached this standard. The storyline was good, the character well written, the plot easy to follow, overall is was good. But Mr. Sparks could have done better, I enjoyed almost all of his earlier work better and love "The Lucky One" which came out in 2008.
This book would have been a great achievement for some writers but I just felt Nicholas Sparks could have done better this was just "good" for him.

This has probably been my favorite Nicholas Sparks book, and that says a lot coming from me. I typically find his books to be dry, but this one pulled me in all the way through. Granted, at times I sort of had certain parts of the book figured out, but there were a few twists in it that made the book worthwhile. I loved the ending. This one gave me a little faith that Sparks can write a touching story. I wish all of his books would keep my interest like this one did.

I didn't like this book at all. Although I was surprised by the choice that has to be made (although I was NOT surprised by the ending), I just wasn't interested and I didn't care about the characters at all. Toward the end I found myself skimming to get to the resolution. This definitely wasn't my favorite of Nicholas Sparks' books.

Travis Parker has everything a man could want: a good job, loyal friends, even a waterfront home in small-town North Carolina. In full pursuit of the good life -- boating, swimming, and regular barbecues with his good-natured buddies -- he holds the vague conviction that a serious relationship with a woman would only cramp his style. That is, until Gabby Holland moves in next door. Despite his attempts to be neighborly, the appealing redhead seems to have a chip on her shoulder about him...and the presence of her longtime boyfriend doesn't help. Despite himself, Travis can't stop trying to ingratiate himself with his new neighbor, and his persistent efforts lead them both to the doorstep of a journey that neither could have foreseen. Spanning the eventful years of young love, marriage and family, The Choice ultimately confronts us with the most heartwrenching question of all: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

This is one of my favorite books by the talented Nicholas Sparks. You will be pleased with The Choice!

The last few Sparks books have been slow and disappointing, but this book makes it clear that he's back! Tremendously well written - I couldn't put this book down and read it in one afternoon. As for the previous reviewer who had a problem with the "adultry" part of the book, that was not the theme nor the meaning of this book in my opinion...actually, loyalty and true love abounds!

It was so sad and so sweet and so hard to figure out what he would do, and I felt so much of the emotion that Travis was feeling. Nicholas Sparks did such a great job of making the story come alive with love, and I really felt like I connected with the characters. The ending wasn't perfect, but it was realistic. I loved it!

This book was a good read, however I'm sorry to say not his best story line. Having read all of his other books, I found this one to be subpar compared to others. I haven't read many of the Nicholas Sparks books, but the Notebook was one of my favorite movies and I really liked his last movie, Nights in Rodanthe. So I picked up this book, hoping for another great love story. He delivered . . . true love and soul mates and then it got extremely sad. Honestly, I had to put it away for a few days because I can only take grief in small doses. I finally picked it back up to finish and was pleasantly surprised!

booknerdbookworm avatar reviewed The Choice on + 5 more book reviews
Mr. Sparks can be a bit repetitive and drab at times....simple plot lines that tend to be rather predictable - I'm thinking "The Lucky One" here. BUT, those characteristics do not apply to "The Choice" at all! This novel had me hooked. It's touching, honest, and really brings about some introspection. It left me wondering what I would do if placed in the same scenario. I couldn't put it down, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this to all readers.

I don't want to give away what "the big choice" is. But I will say, just when you think you have it all figured out, there are a few big twists! Enjoy!

Thought this was a great read. The characters, as in all of Sparks books, are easy to fall in love with. If I didn't have a puppy on my lap licking me to death, a five year old who's dragged out yhe playdough and a 2 year old yelling mommy from his crib I would write alot more. Final word...read it.

I started reading this book and of course thought it would be a typical chick lit, but Nicholas Sparks did it again. His books have a way of pulling you in and before you know it you can't put the book down. He has enough twists and turns to the plot to keep you up late at night till you finish the book.

This book tackles real life issues which we could all face and the difficulty of making such decisions. Loving someone enough to honor them but loving them so much you don't want to let go. Life is truly a gift and we should all cherish our loved ones daily letting them know how much they're loved. I will read every book by Nicholas Sparks that I can get my hands on. Definitely a book most should read.

The Choice is a good character study, where both of the main characters are thoroughly flushed. Sparks spends a considerable portion of the book on the set-up of their meeting and an odd red herring and far less on their time together or resolution, which is, of course, what we often long for. It is a good Sparks' creation, but not his best.

This book was awesome! Very good from start to finish. Very surprising ending! And as far as some reviews that states Sparks entertained the idea of adultery? Absolutely not, in my opinion. The couple was not even married! Adultery is commited when a married spouse cheats on the other. This was not the case in this book at all. Awesome book! Read it!

This was one of the best books I have read in a long time. I had only read one other book by Nicholas Sparks, The Wedding. This one I enjoyed alot more eventhough I cried through the last pages. It was a very quick read also, one I couldn't put down. I highly recommend this book.

A story told in two parts, then and now. Engaging.

About the author: Nicholas Sparks is one of my favorite authors: one can count on him to deliver a great story along the lines of a Hallmark movie, consistently good, enjoyable and fun. The only drawback to his books is that they are very much along the lines of boy meets girl, girl doesn't like boy, and boy overcomes girl's concerns. So read his books with time between them, and they won't run together.

Do you need to read in order? Each book (so far) stands on its own so you can read them in any order

Triggers: Horrific automobile accidents, coma, end of life choices

A wonderful love story that becomes painful because of an auto accident. Should he or shouldn't he pull the plug on his comatose wife?

I am a huge fan of Nicholas Sparks and have read all of his books. I found this book to be very disappointing and the worst of any his books. I dislike adultry and adulturers and was sickened because Nicholas Sparks was trying to make cheating sound attractive and exciting. In addition this book was tremendously predictable. I wish I would not have paid full retail for this book in hardcover. I would not recommend this book.

This book was sooo good.... a breathtaking story of true love..... makes you really think about how hard it would be to keep a promise that is a matter of life or death...especially when it was a promise you made to someone you loved the most...makes you also think that when you made the choice whether to keep that promise or not ir you were keeping it/breaking it for your own good or for the good of the person who made you swear to keep the promise in the first place..

An excellent book i would reccomend it to anyone and everyone... THe pages flew by b/c i couldnt wait to see what happened next!
