This is definetely one of Comptons best in the trail drive series. Unlike most in the series, this is a single book(no sequel to it - last page is last page of the story). Ralph Compton combines what hes best at in this book. A lot of "town" western and "trail" western. Also, there is a rare look into Compton's writings about the east America during the western expansion. Definetely a must buy.
was a good book
An extraordinary saga of the trail-blazing cowboys who made their fortune driving cattle from Texas to the Great Frontier. From the Texas brakes to the Canadian River, they blazed a trail with courage, blood, and tears.
