Chris Crutcher spoke at the National Young Adult Library Conference in Pittsburgh where I picked up this paperback. Crutcher's characters are authentically portrayed and based upon his experiences as a psychologist and family therapist. In this story, Dillon deals with the painful suicide of his brother by training for the Ironman triathalon. He meets Jennifer, another athlete who has skeletons in her own closet. Together, they find courage to face their difficult lives. Loved it.
