This is the last in the series about Lara McClintock, the Toronto antiquities dealer. This time our heroine is hired by a friend to buy a silver box at an auction. The box is from an ancient Chinese dynasty and before long Lara is on her way to China after the box is stolen. There are some fascinating insights into China and its history before the full story is revealed. I hate seeing the series end even if Lara is often TSTL. The books always have a nifty twist at end. This one is no exception.
Lyn Hamilton does her usual excellent job in this book - the last in the Lara McClintoch series. There's an intruguing mystery surrounding the T'ang Dynasty box, and a more modern one which begins in Toronto and involves Rob - Lara's life partner.
When Lara goes to China, the author captures the confusion a foreigner often feels in a country where you not only don't speak the language, but are illiterate in the local form of writing.

Not quite as good as some of her others.
