Chill Factor had more twists and turns than most of Sandra Brown's books.

Once you start it, you will not be able to stop until you are at the very unexpected ending.

A Great Read.

A well-written thriller centering around a serial killer, the police chief's recently divorced wife, and a blizzard. Well-written characters. I enjoyed the story - some parts I guessed quickly but others eluded me until the end.

Five women are missing from the sleepy mountain town of Cleary, N. Carolina, and a blue ribbon has been left near where each woman was last seen. Lilly Martin has returned to Cleary to close the sale of her cabin. But when her car skids and strikes a stranger, Ben Tierney, as he emerges from the woods, they've no choice but to wait our a brutal blizzard in the cabin. And as the hours of their confinement mount, Lilly wonders if the greater threat to her safety isn't the storm, but the stranger beside her.

I enjoyed this book, lots of twists and suspicions of who the killer really is.

Ex honey has hard time letting go and the wife just wants to move on. She moves on and gets caught on a mountain during a blizzard and a mysterious roommate may or may not be who he says. This was a killer chiller and perfect for a weekend retreat read. I have read many Sandra Brown books, but this is one of my faves. Enjoy a cup of joe with this book.

Chill Factor is alright. It is not a gread read, but it is not completely boring either. It just seemed that the story line was predictable..... I knew exactly what was going to happen early on in the story. :-(

I do like Sandra Brown's writing style, and like here characters and plot.... this one was just alittle too easy to figure out. And once you know what is going to happen the rest of the book is boring.

560 pages? why?

I found the first 100 pages so boring it almost put me to sleep so didn't pursue the rest of the book, just flipped to the back and got the killer that was enough for me.

I don't read Sandra Brown much but a book has to be more to the point of the story instead of dragging it out and making over 500 pages of unnecessary descriptions.

Five women have disappeared without a trace and local police chief Dutch Burton is doing all he can but he is distracted since his wife Lilly Martin has just divorced him. Upon clearing out their winter cabin just before a blizzard hits, Dutch leaves in frustration thinking Lilly is right behind him on the road. Unfortunately Lilly has fallen asleep and when she awakens, the storm has been going strong for hours and the roads are precarious, to say the least. When someone jumps out in front of her car, she hits the man and crashes into a tree, disabling the vehicle. Lilly helps the man back to the cabin to wait out the storm.

You know from the beginning who the serial kidnapper (killer?) is and when he gets hit by a car in the second by Lilly, you have roughly 360 pages of suspense. Is he going to rape her, torture her, kill her or all three? To make matters worse, Ben is a very attractive and charismatic man. Is Lilly going to fall in love before he does her in? And the best thing is that they aren't strangers. Lilly and Ben met on a kayaking adventure the previous summer and flirted up a storm before Lilly revealed that she was married. Ben was rather upset at being fooled. Hmmm. Is Lilly now stranded with no help in sight with a potential murderer?

Small town Cleary, NC is just like all small towns...everybody knows everybodies business, secrets run deep and when one is exposed, the entire town is effected. Cleary, NC is no different. Brother and sister, Marilou and William Ritt have always lived together though he treats her more like a wife (cook, clean, etc) than a sister. For some strange reason, she accepts this and puts up with it without a fuss. Hmmm, what's going on here? Wes Hamer and his son Scott are another strange pair. Wes is the high school football coach and he pushes Scott almost past his endurance and Scott at 19 allows this. Why? Wes also treats his wive like shit and she puts up with it without complaint. What is up with these people? And of course, let's not forget the FBI has arrived and steadily withhold evidence from the police. It sounds like a cluster mess in the making and believe me it is. This is one book that winds you up to let you fall into false conclusions again and again. Very well written with just the right amount of tension, suspense and anger. Excellent!

Creepy...really creepy, because you never really know who-done-it. Lilly Martin and a man she barely knows are stranded in a cabin up in the mountains during a blizzard. Their struggle is to keep from freezing to death, while the struggle going on down the mountain is to find the man responsible for the disappearance of the town's five missing women. Lust, jealousy, murder, and family conflict, with strong characters and excellent dialogue. This will catch you and keep you to the very end.

Sandra Brown has a knack for keeping you in suspense while trying to figure out 'who done it'. Chill Factor will keep you guessing up to the end. Well written with a very believeable plot.

I'm not usually a big fan of secular "romance" novels. When I picked this one up, it didn't strike me as a romance. I thought of it more as a mystery. A mystery it was! A very good and intriguing plot. However, it was also a romance, with some sex scenes that I definitely could have done without. If you don't mind that, the mystery itself was good.

This is a page turner! It has so many twists and turns. You think that the killer is one person and then you get a turn and you think it is someone else. At the end you have a surprise! Great book.

another engrossing read by Sandra...I was worried when I picked this book up...how was she going to tie all the missing women together...but I should have known...she is a master storyteller...her characters were not as in depth as some of her other books...and the clues for solving this one were widely scattered...but I was able to pinpoint the murderer before the book ended...

Sandra Brown does it again! A tightly-paced romantic supsense story, CHILL FACTOR is the genre at its best. With suspects out the wazoo, you'll have a hard time figuring out who the bad guy really is--while you're watching the romance unfold between the hero and heroine.

I loved the fact that the very first chapter starts out with circumstantial evidence that will have you doubting Ben Tierney throughout the whole story. Is he the good guy, or just a really good con artist? The fact that the evidence continues to mount through each chapter leaves you feeling as mixed-up as the heroine of the story seems to be.

Sandra Brown has definitely penned a CHILLING winner--you don't want to miss this book!

Suspense abounds in this gripping new thriller from New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown, in which a successful magazine editor is trapped in her remote cabin with a man believed to be a serial killer.

Cleary, North Carolina, is a sleepy mountain town -- the kind of place where criminal activity is usually limited to parking violations. Not so, lately. Four women have disappeared from Cleary over the past two years. And there's always a blue ribbon left near the spot where each of the women was last seen. There are no bodies, no other clues, and no suspicion as to who their abductor might be. And now, another woman has disappeared without a trace.

It is to this backdrop that Lilly Martin returns to close the sale of her mountain cabin, marking the end of her turbulent eight-year marriage to Dutch Burton, Cleary's chief of police. Dutch's reluctance to let her go isn't Lilly's only obstacle. As she's trying to outrun a snowstorm, her car skids on the icy road and strikes a man who emerges from the woods on foot. She recognizes the injured man as Ben Tierney, whom she'd met the previous summer. They're forced to wait out the storm in the cabin, but as the hours of their confinement mount, Lilly begins to wonder if the greatest danger to her safety isn't the blizzard outside, but the mysterious man right beside her.

Is Ben Tierney the feared abductor? Or is he who he claims to be...her rescuer from harm and from the tragedy that haunts her?

The compelling characters, sexual tension, and stunning plot twists in Sandra Brown's Chill Factor combine to create a page-turner that will keep readers guessing until the very end.

Sandra Brown was always one of my favorite authors. I'll never forget BREATH OF SCANDAL!

But CHILL FACTOR for me was a mediocre story about Lilly Martin being trapped in a snow storm with Ben Tierney, who's suspected of being a serial killer. I found it to be very predictable, with subplots and secondary characters thrown in that just never seemed to jive with the main plot.

Awesome read!! I've never read Sandra Brown before but after reading this book I want to read as many of her books as I can find. There were so many stories going on at once and she plays them all out so well. Highly reccomended to anyone looking for a good book that will keep you in suspense, and turning pages. I couldn't put it down.

I really liked this one. A mystery with some romance thrown in. A hard combo to beat. I did NOT guess the culprit & I'm usually right on top of that. Most of the characters were hard to like - but that's the point of a well written story, right?? Lilly & Tierney are very likable. enjoy.. this one is hard to put down.
