This is one of the best books I've ever read. I could not put it down and finished it in one day....GLUED to it! Great story, fabulous characters and a terrific twist at the end. A MUST READ!

I have read most of Sandra Dallas' books but this is decidedly different. It had lots of surprises...some I saw coming and one or two I didn't. It was an enjoyable read.

WOW!! This novel is full of twists and turns. It is set in Prohibition-era Montana and gives you a peek into what life was like back then. Dallas weaves a wonderful tale as only she can.

What a fun read! This cast of quirky characters is still with me. Sandra Dallas creates such vivid characters that they seem to be three-dimensional. I laughed and empathized with them all, and I enjoyed every twist and turn these characters made across the dusty, old West trails of New Mexico and Colorado. Sandra Dallas and The Chili Queen took me for a ride and an adventure I won't soon forget.
Look for me to post this book just as soon as I get it back. This is one I wanted to pass on to friends.

Much better than The Persian Pickle Club. I was enthralled to the very last page.

This was a perfect read for these past chilly evenings. So much going on in this story. I couldn't wait to get home from work and dinner done to get back into the book. Just when you think you know what is going to happen, something else happens. Just when you get done laughing at one thing somethings else funny comes up. There is suspense, mystery, romance, and lots of friendship going on in this book. I very much enjoyed it. And i did admire the "Queen of the hookhouse" , she was quite a lady!!!

A good tale. Takes place in the days of the so called wild west.

This was an okay book. I really didn't get into it though. It's set in the 1800s about a lady who runs a brothel, The Chili Queen. It's also about swindling people out of their money. There are some twists and turns though and some comical moments.

Like other books by this author the setting is the "wild west". However, the characters in this novel are less virtuous than those in other novels. The plot takes several twists and turns as we follow the lives of a bank robber, a madam, and a couple of scam artists. An interesting book, but not quite believable.

What a terrific little book, my first by Sandra Dallas. The characters are carefully constructed and multi-layered. Her descriptions of people and places make you feel you are there as dusty and sweat-covered as a farmer. The story focuses on a cast of hard-working folks who are as lovable as they are despicable in their efforts to live their dreams. A nice break from the typical beach read or crime novel.

In typical Sandra Dallas style, the characters endure outstanding hardships and strength of character to overcome them. Her signature, unexpected twists and turns keep the reader gripped until the very end yet satisfied that the story has ended as it should. A great read.

I have really enjoyed Sandra Dallas's books, and this is another. This one has a few surprises along the way, and I think it would make a great movie. Her character development and writing are very good, as well as the story line. It's an easy read, but fun!
Can't really review this one without giving it all away, but this is now my favorite Sandra Dallas book. She's done a total about-face from her usual heartwarming tales involving salt-of-the-earth types persevering through hardship, with families and communities bound together by the strong female characters who inhabitat them.
Suffice to say, there are drifters and grifters and plenty of twists in this sprightly western. The observant reader will see some of them, but I'd bet money that they won't see them all.
