A woman is found dead on a child's playground; strapped to a swing set with barbed wire, a knife in her chest. D.I. Kim Stone and her team search Belinda Evans home and find a packed suitcase. Her sister, Veronica, claims not to know where Belinda was going; but something seems off with their relationship. As another body on a playground is discovered, Kim knows they are searching for a serial killer. Both victims were set to attend a two-day workshop for gifted children. Kim must find the killer before another body turns up.

Meanwhile, D.S. Austin Penn has returned to West Mercia to testify in a murder trial where he was the arresting officer. As the trial proceeds a witness for the prosecution changes her testimony. Penn goes over the evidence in the case and finds some things he never noticed before. Suddenly he is beginning to believe that they arrested the wrong guy.

How does each book in this series top the last? In this book we have two cases. I had some ideas about where these cases were going and who the culprits were...and I was wrong. The book was very hard to put down and I can't wait for the next book in the series. My rating: 5 Stars.
