This is an excellent resource. It's well-researched, backed up scientific information, and well written. There is a wealth on information here for parents and physicians of children on the autism spectrum. Dr. McCandless is a medical doctor and the grandmother of a child with autism. Autism isn't just a brain disorder. It's an immune disorder that impacts the brain, the gut, and the liver.

If you're interested in a step by step guide to the complex biomedical illness that is autism then this book is for you. Dr. McCandless explains how genetic susceptibility is activated by triggers such as exposure to environmental toxins, pesticides, heavy metals which lead to widespread immune dysfunction and systematic impairment. If you have a child with autism or you're the close relative or friend of someone who has a child with autism, you need to get this book. The 2009 edition is updated with the latest research. There are new sections that weren't in the 2007 edition.
