This is the first in a new series from Susan Mallery about a town in California called Fool's Gold. I received this book from the LibraryThing Early Reviewers program.

This is a classic and sweet romance. Many of the plot points are a bit predictable, but not annoyingly so. I liked the turn-around of how the golden boy can sometimes be the right guy and the "nice" guy isn't always the right one (think like the movie The Mask).
Both Josh and Charity were well developed characters with enough depth to give them realism and likability. I enjoyed the banter between the two as well as their development apart.
This is the first in the series and I was happy that the setup for the next book didn't occur until the very last paragraph in the book. This book can be read stand alone and you aren't left hanging too much--just a little interest left at the end. I have found lately than many series books have been setting up the next book 1/3 of the way through the one you are reading and you lose time with the current couple. Thankfully, no so in this one. Ethan is the next hero, but the next book could have included any number of characters right until the last paragraph when Ethan's story is setup.

I'm a Susan Mallery fan and have read almost all of her recent series books. If you have enjoyed her latest series, you will like this one and be looking forward to reading more.

After reading the titan sisters series (which i LOVED!!) and them being the first books I have ever read of Susan Mallery I became a superfan!! Susan Mallery writes in such a way that it makes me feel very connected to the story and feeling like I know the characters personally. Chasing Perfect is the first bookk in the fools gold series and does not disappoint. The only problem that I have with this particular series is that it seems that there are too many people that have issues with there mom's or dad's. It kinda gets old. Otherwise the love story that is involved is very touching and the end of this book gives me good happy feelings.lol you will be very happy to read any of her books and this one is a good place to start.

I loved this story. The main and supporting characters were really cute (LOVED Eddie, Josh's assistant and wish she were in it more!). Can't wait for the next installment.

This book was an easy read, and had a few good moments of chemistry between the main characters. I liked that the hero & heroine had some of the same types of problems in the past, so they were able to identify with each other. The story was a bit formulaic, and I grew a bit irritated with how long it took for the heroine to trust the hero, but overall, a sweet story. Not one that I finished in one sitting, but cute.

Charity Jones has just arrived in Fool's Gold, California, to start her new job as City Planner. After a childhood of moving from town to town, she immediately falls in love with all the small town has to offer. The Mayor tells her that their town has lost too many men and Charity's job is to bring the men back to the town. One man who has come back to Fool's Gold is the town's most famous resident, former world-class cyclist, Josh Golden. The mayor is trying to play matchmaker between them, but Charity has had too many romantic disasters to take a chance on Josh, even if everyone thinks he's just perfect the way he is.

This is the first book in Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series. It's a contemporary romance set in a small town. The characters were interesting but not real exciting. I liked that Josh was the town's Golden boy but had his own insecurities. The story flowed with no actual twists and turns, but it kept me interested enough to continue reading. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series since Ethan' character interested me. My rating: 4 Stars.

I enjoyed the first book in this series.

As others noted, in the beginning it seemed a little like the author was following an outline, but she builds the characters nicely to where you begin to enjoy them for themselves instead of looking at them as a cardboard cutout of a famous person (Josh/Lance Armstrong).

I found it quite humorous that a town was hiring a city planner to bring men to their town!

Enjoyable read!
