This is the first time I read anything by this author. It was a very good book and I will be looking for more of his books.

I love Elvis Cole. I just wish there were more in this series. Elvis is a PI with a smart mouth and a great sense of humor. The mysteries are well written and serious with the occasional wise crack from Elvis. This is one of my favorite series and I highly recommend it.

Elvis Cole is fun, quirky, and such a great escape! Throw a little Pike in, and what a great way to relax.

Fine detective fiction. Page burner/turner.
A terrific book that held my interest from beginning to end. Elvis Cole (and friend Joe Pike) is a strong, likeable hero - reminds me of Spencer and Jack Reacher. Lots of twists with a surprising ending.
Another great Elvis Cole book. Fans will not be disappointed.
Love to curl up with an Elvis Cole novel and this one is one of his best! Elvis finds himself at odds with the LAPD when a suspect in a series of killings (going back several years) shows up dead of an apparent suicide and with sordid pictures of the dead women at his feet.
The pictures had to have been taken at the time of the deaths, so there is no doubt in the LAPD's mind that he was indeed the serial killer and they are furious at Elvis Cole because he had found a witness to alibi the suspect and had gotten him off. It's up to Elvis and his buddy Pike to prove them wrong.

A high-octane thriller, well written and a page turner. The author's books are in the Lee Child mode--i.e., tough guys on serious business. Not much in the way of romance or lightheartedness, though they are not without the occasional gimpse of humor. And they do require a certain suspension of disbelief.
Another in the series that features Elvis Cole and Joe Pike, doing their investigations in the LA area.
This one involves a decades old murder, vengence, police cover up possibilities and corruption. It builds layers of clues and information.
It is the usual high quality plot pacing and characterizations that author Crais offers in his writing.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Wish it had more Joe Pike, as his friendship with Elvis Cole (main character) is always compelling.
Elvis cole is the detective in this book. A serial killer kills 7 women. The only problem, it appears that Elvis was hired by the attorney for the man who killed victim number 5. The evidence he found slowed him to go free. The killer Cole got released committed suicide with the gruesome photos of the seven murder victims as they were dying on his lap. Two of the victims were killed after the killer was set free. Wow! Very good book. I would recommend it.
Elvis Cole, the world's greatest PI, knows there is something hinky about the announcement of the identification of a serial killer by the Deputy Police Chief, especially since Cole's information got him the guy an acquittal and now Cole is on EVERYONE's bad side, especially the victims' families who blame him. This is another excellent book by Crais featuring Elvis Cole and his ally Joe Pike; they are honor bound to find the truth. But things are not what they seem. Definitely a 'can't put it down' book!
I just discovered Cole and Pike a few months ago so am catching up and so far I've liked this series!
This is the eleventh book in the Elvis Cole series and it is very clever. There was just enough Joe Pike; they balanced each other well and it is obvious why they are such great friends (In some stories, Joe Pike comes across as a GI-Joe cartoon character.).
During a serious fire, police officers walked the neighborhood warning residents to move to a safer location. While there, the police come upon a 5-day-old dead body. The body is a bad shock, but the 'book of death' on his lap is horrifying.
Elvis Cole is asked to rethink his work done three years earlier when the dead man is found to be Lionel Byrd, a man Elvis helped escape a murder charge with evidence found at the last minute.
The 7 photos of dead women (one of whom is the woman Byrd was on trial for killing), show them at the point of death. No one but the murderer could have such awful photos. Did Elvis help free a killer? Is he responsible for the two extra women's deaths, since he got the man released from prison?
This is a classic 'who-done-it' and I was totally wrong. Great story with lots of twists.
