Wow!!! What a great read! Almost perfect book in my opinion!!!!
Blurb:
Although he is hundreds of miles away, Jake Baretta knows the instant his twin brother John is shot. From the pain afflicting his own body, Jake knows the wound is deadly serious, and that this time, no matter what Jake does, he will not be able to save his twin.

John Baretta is an ATF agent whose current case involves the Moon clan. Old Elijah Moon has taken his seven grown children, their families and other like-minded individuals and moved to remote rural Kentucky. But while Elijah is a pacifist and devout Christian, his oldest son Brady has an anti-government mentality. Behind his father's back, Brady has armed his small militia group and is prepared to do battle. Keeping a promise to her dead mother, Gracie Moon left her job to move to the compound to watch out for her father Elijah. As Gracie watches her brother and his followers become more violent, she fears for her entire family.

After having his brother die in his arms, Jake is out for vengeance. He makes a deal with John's boss; Jake will walk back into the compound as Jake "Crockett," who miraculously survived being shot in the back. Jake will finish what his brother started and this time it is the Moon clan who will pay. What Jake doesn't count on is the beautiful and gentle Gracie. When it becomes apparent that she is innocent, how can Jake let her be caught in the dragnet that is slowly closing in?

Wonderful romantic suspense novel about twin brothers. When one of the brothers is murdered, the other assumes his brother's identity to find the killer, and finds the love of his life. I loved it and plan on reading more of Ms. Sala's backlist.

I love a man who cries but this hero was too much even for me. He was supposed to be a tough undercover ATF agent but as soon as he went under to find his twin brother's killer and met the heroine, he went all soft in the head!

Determined to find the man who shot his twin brother and left him to die, Jake Baretta travels to the New Zion compound in rural Kentucky, where his brother had been working undercover--and where Jake must now work undercover to reveal a killer. One of the sons of New Zion\'s leader, Elijah Moon, is guilty of murder. But which one? Gracie Moon, Elijah\'s only daughter, adores her father, but she can\'t shake the feeling that undercurrents of trouble are roiling beneath the surface at the compound. Nor can Gracie ignore or deny the growing passion between herself and Jake. While Jake works to discover his brother\'s murderer and expose the crime beneath New Zion\'s calm, he finds himself falling in love with Gracie. What neither Jake nor Gracie can know is that his cover is about to be blown and when it is, the men involved in gunrunning, prostitution, and subversive activities will threaten both their lives. Chase the Moon has enough twists and turns to baffle the best sleuths and enough depth of emotion to satisfy the most demanding of romance fans

This is the first book by Dinah McCall I have read. I know a set of twins so it had a special meaning for me. Although I usually read historical books, I enjoyed this one.

While working undercover in a compound where illegal guns were stored, DEA Agent John Braxton was shot in the back. He made it out of the Kentucky hills, but died in his twin brother's arms. Jake Braxton vows to find the person who shot his brother and make him pay. Jake passes himself off as his brother and returns to the compound that is run by Elijah Moon. Elijah's six sons, their families, and his daughter Gracie live there. Gracie is astonished when Jake tells her that someone tried to kill him. She also believes that her eldest brother may have had something to do with the attempted murder.

This book started off with John getting shot and rolled right along at a fast clip until the mid-point of the story. Then the plot moved away from the suspense and focused on the romance. I thought the romance was lacking and wasn't very interesting. I wish they could have stuck with the suspense plot the whole way through the book. My rating: 3 Stars.
