Made it to page 76 and then gave up. I did not care for the diary type format of this book and to be honest did not care much for the heroine or the storyline. I have way too many books in my TBR mountain to force myself to read things that don't keep my interest.

Tedious. I thought the writing was lazy in the extreme. I wasn't at all interested in the characters. I made it half way through and realized I didn't have to read it. Just terrible really.

"Charmed and Dangerous"
By
Candace Havens
Bronwyn's job is not exactly conventional. She's a witch who not only fights off warlocks, demons, and evil zombies, but gets paid to do it. She protects the Prime Minister and is his personal body guard. She also murders, plots, and shoots fire from her hands while blowing up cars in the process. Bronwyn is not a witch to be reckoned with, although being a magical body guard does tend to get in the way of having anything that resembles a normal love life.
I made it to exactly page 35 of this book. Even then I had to resist the urge to throw it across the room, light fire to it, and put the ashes in the blender with a little bit of water, pour it down the drain and hit the garbage disposal. It was THAT bad.
The entire book is writen in "diary" format. Every chapter has an "entry" as if the thing the Havens is talking about has already happened. There is absolutely no suspense and all the character does is whine about her lack of a love life. In every sense of the word this book should be a kid's book. If it weren't for the constant cussing, references to sex, and Havens constantly reminding me how horny the main character is it reminded me of a "Ramona" book from my childhood.
I cannot possibly express how horrid "Charmed and Dangerous" is. I can hardly believe Penguin Books decided to publish it. "Charmed and Dangerous" is really not even fit for reading and should be used as either toilet paper or fire kindling. I would not touch this book again with a 20-foot pole. I really hope someone else on paperback swap does NOT read this review and wants me to send it to them soon. I don't want this book contaminating any of my others with its foul writing, bad language, and inexcusably simple plot line.
1/2 of a star.

I'm no prude, but I found some of the language in this book a little over the top. At times, it was distracting. Still, the story was good and the characters enjoyable.

Um, can you say horrible? I don't think any others in this series are written in the diary style, (as this one is) which is a really good thing, but that is only the icing on an otherwise, badly written story. She was completely TSTL and yet scraped by because of her AMAZING powers (she's one of three of the most powerful witches in the world you know.) Horrible, horrible. Don't press the button. Go back and look at something else, PLEASE!
Dreadful...Only made it to page 40 and skimmed to the end. Hated the diary format. Characters were superficial. Interesting premise but poor execution.

I liked this story. It was slow to start with but once Bronwyn's background was established it was good. I didn't like the way the story was laid out as journal entries. It took some getting use to. Overall the book was good.

I am not sure how I was convinced to order this book from PBS. I couldn't stand that use of I in almost every sentence and pretty much made it to page 40 before giving up...not sure how fast I can get rid of this book.

Quick read....cute....I kinda liked the idea that you were reading her journal entires.
I did stuble over a few things in the book that I didn't think coincided with what I remembered about the other characters from the previous book I read in this series.
Over all, I like her style and wit.

Pure Fluff. A light read. I had trouble getting into it at first, then I started to view it as reading a long Buffy episode, and enjoyed it.

This book was a very funny, very passionate, quick read. The main character is a riot, so are her friends. I loved the whole concept behind the plot. The only drawback to this book that I could see was that the authoer couldn't choose a hero so she flips between two and then kinda flakes into a decision at the end. And really it leaves the reader not sure if she picked the right one or not. While I reccommend reading this book to anyone, I would not tell them to go out and buy the book. Do what I did, get it from the library or a second hand shop

Good Read.
Smart, funny, everything you want in a book that takes you away from it all.
A litle mystery and great guys. Who will win in the end.

Bronwyn is a strong character and loved the premise, but didn't like the journal entry format it made the story less urgent.

I was a little hesitant about reading this book after reading the reviews, but I am glad i did. It is a little odd at first, getting used to the journal entry style writing but tis very similar to Katie Macalister's Corset Diaries and u get used to it. I enjoyed the book, thought it was a cute, light read. Very heart-warming. The writing style was a little choppy to me, but otherwise, i think it is worth a read.

A day in the life of a modern witch - written in the first person point of view in diary form. So not my favorite writing style. It jumps around and it just isn't that interesting.
Bronwyn provides magical protection for the Prime Minister of England, among other things. At a meeting in Norway, the Prime Minister is meeting with Sheik Azir of Dubai, whose cousin is trying to kill him. Bronwyn gets roped into protecting him too. A lot of time in Dubai follows which is a tad boring. Bronwyn recently started dating Dr. Sam and she has mixed feeling since he's a warlock. The problem (for me) is that she doesn't explain why she has a problem with dating a warlock - not that it stops her from dating him.
I just didn't feel the love between them. She instantly had the hots for him but then again she pretty much had the hots for the Prime Minister and the Sheik too. Sam seemed to just go along for the ride. The story ended well but I really had to force myself to finish reading it. This is so not a series I will continue.

This was a raunchy piece of literature especially at the beginning. Some of the quotes were hysterical, however the spunk kind of died out at the end, but all in all a great read.

Her purpose: To rid the world of evil, one bad guy at a time. Being a witch can really put a jinx on your love life...
A cute book that is easy to read but not super engaging to the mind. A witch in love with a warlock she shouldn't be and a sheik who loves her when he shouldn't set the premise for the love triangle. Bronwyn is a witch who tries to be like every other chick lit character, and yet there is something not quite on with her. The action scenes are interesting but the other scenes drag. It was cute but not my favorite witch chick lit book. However, for a rainy day this is a good read!
