I read this with my 6 year old daughter. Our favorite part is when Charlotte wants Wilber (the pig) to run around to see if he looks "radient". After several silly instructions, she tells him to do a half-twist with a back flip - which he did. My daughter still laughs about that! A very sweet book to read with your children.

What can I say; just one of the best books ever written for any age! I have read it over a dozen times to children and education majors. he only problem is that "EVERYONE" reads it to their class starting with 1st or 2nd grade; upside is that it is meaningfull and can be understood at many levels

I had to read this book for a Children's Literature class. It's not one that I would have chosen on my own. I've heard of the movie, but as a child, I have no memory of ever reading the book.
It's definitely a very creative storyline.
Noteworthy excerpt:
"...He planned to stand perfectly still and think of what it was like to be alive..."
This was noteworthy to me because his very life had been threatened. They wanted to kill him because they didn't think his life would amount to much. Anytime we come up against an enemy that wants to silence/kill us, we should be thankful for life. We out to reflect on how easily life is taken every day, but how God has given us another day. If you're reading this, then it is obvious that your family did not have to plan your funeral today. We rejoice that God saw fit to awaken us and has granted us yet another chance to be in the land of the living.

This is a magical book. I love the impossibility inherent in fantasy when well crafted. This book eloquently captures that notion. Written deftly, EB White's classic embodies the deep love within our hearts for all of life.
I love re-discovering the story of Wilbur the Pig and his loyal friend Charlotte the Spider. I read it in an entirely different context now that I am adult. I encourage those of you who experienced this book as a childhood favorite to pick it up again and view it through adult eyes...some very good lessons on individualism, loyalty, trust, etc. will emerge.
wonderfullly imagiative book based around a farm and a little girl who tends to be a loner. Makes spiders not seem so scary!
This is a childhood favorite of mine that I've given to my 8 year old niece, who is really enjoying it. She loves PaperBack Swap and may repost the book when she's done to get another book.
All time Childhood Favorite. All kids should read this and if there are any adults out there that haven't. By all means step back to childhood and let in some sunshine.
One of those fun, old classics!! My little ones are only 4 & 6, but they already love this story.
Charlotte's Web is an excellent children's book for 1st to 3rd graders. The story begins and ends on a farm, with a little girl named Fern and her animal friends. She is especially close to Wilbur, a pig. Wilbur is very close to Charlotte, the spider. There's also Templeton, the rat. Read it, and unravel the story.

Come on! This is a children's classic and I have read it countless numbers of times. Who wouldn't love a talking pig and spider? Incredibly wonderful book for children.
Wonderful story of a little girl and her pet pig. Both grow up while learning a few bittersweet lessons about life and death.
Yes, I actually cried when Charlotte died.

A wonderful classic! I've read it as a child and as and adult and it's still a wonderful story at either age. My child read it at ten years old and just adored the story!

This is a great book for all kinds of readers! It helps show kids that you can do anything as long as you set your mind to it. It shows adults that your friends can take you a long way. It also shows how much a child can truly love their pet.
Ahhh, Charlotte's web. A classic, right? I think that there are few people who haven't heard of Charlotte's Web, but just in case you haven't, I'll post an overview:

Had not read this when I was younger. Knew the broad outline of the story but wanted to read it in its entirerty and am glad I did. It was a sweet story with many things still unchanged today. Am going to give it to my great-granddaughter to read when she's old enough. Strongly recommend for a book to be read to a child.

This is the story of a little girl named Fern who loved a little pig named Wilbur - and of Wilbur's dear friend Charlotte A. Cavatica, a beautiful large grey spider who lived with Wilbur in the barn. With the help of Templeton, the rat who never did anything for anybody unless there was something in it for him, and by a wonderfully clever plan of their own, Charlotte saved the life of Wilbur, who by this time had grown up to be quite a pig.

A children's classic.
"What the book is about is friendship on earth, affection and protection, adventure and miracle, life and death, trust and treachery, pleasure and pain, and the passing of time. As a piece of work it is just about perfect, and just about magical in the way it is done."--Eudora Welty-New York Times Book Review
