I love John Jakes. I have read every book he has written. He is the best and most accurate history author and his books are always wonderful. This is the second time I have read "Charleston". I loved it! Genny

Excellent read depicting the old South and the struggles in Charleston during its fall. This book also has a great deal of factual information about the events leading up to the Civil War.

Had a little problem getting into this book, but then it moved along. Ending was weak. But a good read for those of us that can only relate to history through a novel.
