This author had an interesting story to tell, and he explained Charles V's life well. Charles V lived about 58 years, and he was busy gathering support to become the Holy Roman Emperor and add to his lands and prestige. Generally, after Charlemagne, most Holy Roman Emperors are lumped together. However, this ebook took the time to explain how Charles V got the title and how he used it to increase his power.

This story stayed lively because of the other European kings (and even the Roman Pope) stabbing Charles in the back (figuratively) and the activities of the Ottoman Empire on Europe's eastern borders.
