Sally Mandell is always a delicious read. Though her books are more in the mainstream genre than the romance genre, her main focus is relationships between couples and families. This book sometimes made me both laugh and cry; but every page was a work of art.
A love story for a lifetime, according to the back cover...
Sharlie Converse lives a careful life. A life stamped FRAGILE: DO NOT TOUCH.
Sharlie is twenty-six, courageous, and beautiful. Born with a heart defect that has defeated a battalion of specialists, she has lived her short years from moment to moment. Everything that matters most to her--color and excitement, adventure and romance--is forbidden except in the vivid imaginings and secret longings that she has long accepted will never be made real.
Until, on a crosstown bus crowded with Christmas shoppers, she falls into Brian Morgan's arms.
And Sharlie, whom love can kill, must make the agonizing choice: to risk her life by loving or never really live at all.
