I really enjoy reading Richard Laymon's work and this book is just as scary and suspenceful as all his others but some parts with the ex-husband were very hard to read. Not extremly graphic but still hard to imagine while reading. The subject matter is very adult and disturbing to think about. It does happen every day but it's hard for me read about still. Any die hard Laymon fan will enjoy this book very much but you have to have a iron clad constituion to read every word and not have trouble. Some paragraphs I actually passed over.

The Beast House is a tourist draw-they flock to see its blood soaked corridors and creeky doors. Some go deeper in the house and some never return. The men are dealt with quickly. the women have to wait longer....first they are tortured and sexually ravished.
This is Laymon at his finest, and that is good indeed!

Come see the Beast House! Take a tour, but beware. .you must be out of the house before dark. The beast kills only after dark.

Make sure you don't enter the Beast House after dark, especially if you are female...Well, maybe its better if you are not at least your death is swift if you are male. The women are sexually tortured for as long as the Beast feels the need....A great sequel to The Beast House and pre-quel to The Midnight Tour...Another fine Laymon book!

I liked this book a lot. Enough that I have ordered the sequel, and am anxious to know what happens next. It was a page turner and a quick read. I didn't find it scary, gory, or graphically sexual, as reviewers have said in other publications of this book. However, I read pretty graphic books so there is a good chance that some may find this book to be disturbing. There are some unusual things about this book and the imagery is amazing. It is clearly one of Laymon's earlier works (first published in 1980) and is the first in the Beast House series. I would recommend it to any horror fan.
