Wow! This duo of authors has done it again. Are you up for a thought provoking mystery? A book with a powerful message? Then this is it.

As in the two previous books by these authors, some of the most difficult subjects are tackled in their mysteries. Ewert Grens from the Swedish police and his fellow staff members are with us again, but this book starts out in the USA - in Ohio! John Meyer Frey is on death row in Ohio since the age of 17 and it's been 10 yrs since he was sentenced. His charge? Killing his 16 yr old girlfriend.

In Sweden John Schwarz is arrested for an assault charge, but something is strange because there is a connection to John Meyer Frey and Grens and his fellow workers need to figure out just what is going on.

This book continues Grens' relationship with his former sweetheart Annie who is brain damaged and living in a home similar to our "assisted living". She's been there about 25 yrs or so and suddenly Grens thinks he sees evidence of some improvement in her - or has he?

The issues this book addresses make you THINK as well as it being such a finely crafted mystery that you can hardly wait to turn the page in order to see what is coming next. I give this book 4.5 stars and that's only because I kind of saw the "writing on the wall" a little earlier than I'd hoped, but that did not detract from the story. Highly recommended!
