I think kids around the age of ten may like this book. It is written for them. I didn't, although I love children's books and young adult books a lot of the time. But as an adult (born in the 1960s), who has always loved children's literature - the author just misses the mark somehow in characterization, plot, pacing and imagery. On the other hand, it wasn't difficult to read through to the end, despite its defects - so I think it will satisfy young readers.
