Possible spoiler:

It is time for the ghostwriters who write in Ms. Braun's name to give it up. Possibly they could take a good freshman English course on their way out. The quality of this series has been declining for some years now, and since Ms. Braun is something like 90 years old, it's not likely that she's writing any longer. No plot to speak of. Sentence fragments. Characters doing things they would never do (Polly casually giving away Brutus and Catta?). Please, put the series down in a humane manner.

Go back to The Cat Who Could Read Backwards or Ate Danish Modern or Saw Red or Turned On and Off -- any of the early books, and then read this one, and weep.

As I read this book I felt like I wasn't getting into the story, felt more like I was skimming it over quickly. The ending was just an abrupt stop, as if she had stopped writing the night before and someone decided to print it that way. I looked to make sure there were no pages missing. Very much a let down. I'm with others, I don't feel she wrote this book. She is 81 years old so it must not be easy to sit and write a novel.

The characters in Moose County are always fun and interesting, but this series is losing a bit of its charm. The mysteries are becoming less an integral part of the story, and I feel that Braun might be heading towards writing general fiction, rather than cozies.

This book seemed very disjointed. I was left wondering if the author had strung together several small snippets, in an attempt to make a deadline.

Well. What to say about this book. All the regular cast members are there, and there is good interaction between them. Not enough of Koko & Yum Yum. As time goes on it seems to me that the plot lines are repeated time and again, although there are a couple twists here that are new. I would never pass up one of these books to read, but it seems there is a little disconnect between this book and the last one.

If you're looking for a good mystery..this isn't it...But, if you are like me and have read the previous 27, it's a good "letter from home" catching up on the goings on in Mouse County. The end leaves more questions than answers, so I hope it's not the end of the series...

HORRID. The ONLY good thing about the book is the cover art, the little cat faces at the start of each chapter and the paws at each topic change. The book was NOT written by the same person as the others. I didn't even have to try to actually READ it. Skimming like you would paragraphs for a reading comprehension test sufficed - and disgusted me. No plot. Very random. No flow. Definitely NOT the same author. I have read all of the other books, which are on the shelf behind me. I will NOT keep this one.

*POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT*
Someone randomly up and leaves, a main feature burns down, cats are just given away, no mystery until 2/3 through the book and then it isn't really a mystery as it goes nowhere.
*ALERT OVER*+

one word to describe this book: ATROCIOUS!

This is the worst book I've ever read by Lilian Jackson Braun. It didn't have a plot until way after the mid section. I've read everything this woman has written in this series and this is by far the worst book ever.

Rambles, like the 2 previous books, but still good to meet old friends. Disappointing trip takes place. Mystery and murders secondary to rambling about old characters in previous books. Still like the cats, and Qwill, but dissappointing as were the 2 previous books.

I was terribly disappointed in this book. When I finished, I, too, went back to see if some pages were missing, or if I somehow had accidentally skipped a chapter or two. Polly's actions are WAY out of character, and don't you suppose Qwilleran would go check out his loss? And what happened to the bee-sting girl? Why was it even mentioned that her kit was found in another room if nothing was going to be figured out from it. Why would someone write a mystery with no resolution? I was going to get this book for a my mother who has also read all the other books in the series, but I would be embarrassed to give it to her. This was not at all as good as any of Braun's other books.

I was incredibly disappointed in this book. Definitely NOTHING like the earlier Cat Who books. I seriously doubt Braun is writing these books. It's a shame what has happened to this series. I enjoyed it up until the last few books but this one is by far the worst.

Very disappointing ... several "unsolved mysteries" and no real ending to this not very interesting addition to the list of light hearted "The Cat Who" series.

How sad that years of joy spent involving ourselves with "The Cat Who...." would seemingly come to a poorly written and shabby end. I have no way of knowing if Ms. Braun wrote this herself, or had a "ghost" - but either way....this is a terrible book and I wouldn't recommend it - not even to start a fire.

Not as good as her earlier books. More predictable than most, and loose ends left hanging. Still love all the characters, but not a fun read for me.

Prefer to remember and reread the earlier books.

As good as the rest of Lilian Jackson Braun Cat Who books. KoKo up to his usual tricks and YumYum as sweet as ever. I've had several Siamese, and have yet to try to count their whiskers. They never want to sit still long enough. Kind of like trying to take a picture of KoKo!

Another great offering by Braun. Koko and Qwilleran are a remarkable pair, but there are some major surprises in this "Cat Who..." book.

The last two book in this series clearly were not written by Ms. Braun. She never would have written this poorly. I was so disappointed in both of them! This last one was particularly awful. Come on, Polly moving to France; giving her cats away, the barn burning down; what a mess. It was so disjointed and fragmented that I knew it must have been a ghost writer. Too bad she didn't write a finale to the series before she died, and especially too bad that a ghost writer finished the last two! So sad to have the series end, and even sadder at the way it ended!

The only good thing I can say about this book is there were no vampires or zombies in it.

Braun continues to delight with this series. KoKo & Jim Qwilleran are a great team and this makes for wonderful light reading, with just enough surprises to keep you going!

I was so disappointed in this last book in the series. Towards the end, the books weren't as good, the mystery not being developed very well. I still enjoyed reading about the characters in the books. But I was stunned with this one because in the very end of the book, Polly moves to Paris and sends Qwill a "Dear John" letter. She gives her cats away and sells her condo and *poof* she's gone. Qwill puts on a brave face but misses her. I think strains in their relationship had been hinted at in a few previous books. She was always too busy for Qwill. Then...arsonists burn down Qwill's barn and he's forced to live permanently at the condo! Finally, he meets a new woman who moved into Polly's condo and there are hints that he will become romantically involved with her. Not really the happy ending I had always imagined for Qwill and Polly.

It seemed to me a little less entertaining than past cat books.
