With the caveat that I am through and through a dog person owned by a mastiff, a Saint Bernard, and a Havanese ... I absolutely LOVE Joe Grey. Every Joe Grey mystery is a treat - a solid plot, unforgettable depth in character, and with many in the series Shirley Rousseau Murphy weaves philosophical discussion into the already wonderful story of cats and love and family. Cat Breaking Free explores the complex nature of freedom - for cats, for people who love, for people and cats who grow and change into even more complex and wonderful beings. Reading Joe Grey mysteries, you never feel you're attending a lecture, you just feel as if you've had another one of those wonderful all-night discussions of Important Things. Like love and freedom and family and cats. I love Joe Grey.

Ms. Rousseau is a terrific writer - her cat characters are so finely drawn, I feel as if I really know them - or at least wish I did! A gang of thieves has invaded Molena Point and it's up to Joe, Dulcie and Kit to clear up the mess - also Kit is strongly tempted about something VERY important to her!
