A lot of Gardner's "Perry Mason" books contain filler simply to show you how smart Perry is, especially in court. Fortunately, this only happened once here. For the most part, this is one of the best "Perry Mason" books I've read. And that is not because Gardner only mentions cigarettes once. Maybe because it is the 40th book in this series and Gardner has learned how to write. As such, I found it very interesting, as well as a page turner. Unfortunately, I thought the ending was a little lame.
