This story had a great deal of potential but took some brutal and unnecessary detours to get to the end- a conclusion that is annoyingly confusing. I am sorry that I invested so much time in reading the whole book. I should have quit the first time I got confused or annoyed by the writing.

What an odd book. I bought it because I thought I'd learn a lot about maps, but that didn't really happen. The book is internally consistent, with interesting characters and is well-constructed, but halfway through the plot took a turn that seemed more appropriate to a different genre than what it started out to be. Unfortunately I can't be more specific without writing spoilers... All in all, a good read until halfway through and overall a bit of a disappointment.
