I LOVED this book! I loved the setting (Ohio) which you don't see in a lot of historical fiction novels. What she does for a living (carousel painter) and the fact that she is the only woman in the factory. I just loved all the descriptions of the animals that they used on the carousel they were building in the book, how they decide to paint each animal, and also her struggle in accepting Christ. There was a small mystery of a stolen necklace and paintings--you know who steals them but still interesting to see how Carrie struggles in that time. I can only hope there will be a 2nd one in this series!

I enjoyed this story by Judith Miller. Carrie was an artist who ventured into "a man's world" when she got a job painting carousel horses. The characters, from the flighty wealthy girl Augusta, to the heroic factory manager Josef, were all interesting and well written. The descriptions of the factory, carousel animals, town, and homes were excellent. I felt I was there! Carrie had some great problems but got through these with her new found faith and much prayer. I recommend this book and hope there will be a sequel!
