Carlton Stowers wrote a great crime story but at times he started a thread that he didn't go into detail with, which I was expecting him to or why else mention it? It was a long book but riveting. It's a good thing the principals were brought to justice but it makes one wonder if ALL that were guilty were caught. A good read on the perfect sociopath.

A very good book, well written, but a very sad story.

This is the book that got me hooked on true crime. Carlton Stowers is a master story teller and I will read anything he writes. This true story is about a random, savage killing of three teen-agers in a park in Waco, TX.

Three teenagers savagely mutilated. The killer and a deputy play headgames with each other until one gets his way. A page turner that will keep you glued to it.

Good story, but the author bounces back and forth in time and I found it distracting.

I understand why this won an Edgar Award, Carlton Stowers is not only a great writer but makes you really know and care about the people he is writing about. This has got to be one of the Top Ten BEST True Crime books I have ever read and that's saying a lot. A senseless and brutal crime inflicted on 3 innocent teenagers, this just broke my heart. I hated knowing this book was coming to an end, I tried to slow myself down but found myself up till 3 am last night just having to finish. Sorry Ann Rule, you have been my favorite true crime writer for many, many years but you just got knocked out of first place. If you're a true crime buff as I am, this book will not disappoint you!

I read a lot of true crime, and this is one of the best books I've ever read. This is about the Lake Waco murders of three teenagers. I recommend it to anyone who likes true crime. Carlton Stowers is a great author, and this may be his very best work.

I discovered Carlton Stowers when I noticed that Ann Rule had recommended one of his books. I enjoy reading well-written true crime non-fiction, and this book certainly falls into that category. Mr. Stowers has thoroughly researched this case, and provides a fascinating investigation into three horrific murders. His books don't quite rank as high as Ann Rule's best, but I would give this one a good solid B+.
