Many Indian tribes would capture whites to help increase the number in their tribe especially warriors. The children adjusted well to their life with the Indians and identified with their captures as Patty Hearst did. This book gave you an idea of what it was like to live among the Indians and to live in fear of Indian raids. So many foriegners such as Germans and Irish were promised freedom, land and the pursuit of happiness just to be butchered for taken the land that belonged to the Indian tribes.
This is a very moving book that is hard to but down at times.

Book was loaded with a lot of good info but went a bit too overboard in descriptions (gory) for me.

This book was REALLY well written! Mr. Zesch weaves a tale of a handful of different children captured by Indians along with his own relative's story. WOW, what an interesting and sad tale!
