Sequel to The Royal Road to Fotheringhay. At times a bit slow but Plaidy is a genuis at the historical fiction genre. So thoroughly detailed you'd think Plaidy was there when it happened. I found myself sympathizing with Mary and all the events surrounding her life.

Drama, pathos, suspense abound in this poignant novel of Mary Queen of Scots, whose beauty and daring captured the hearts of men - and challenged the cruel power of her most dangerous rival, Elizabeth, Queen of England.

From the moment of Mary's imprisonment at Lochleven to the final terrifying adventure, the story blazes with all the color, intrigue, and pageantry of 16th-century England. And always at the center is Mary herself, warm, generous, impetuous, sensual...a woman fighting with head and heart against the savage conspiracy designed to destroy her.

This is an excellant representation of MQ of S! It takes away the image of the plotting witch that Elizabeth has always made her out to be. Part 2 of The Royal road to Farthingay
