I liked it, wasn't the typical story, but entertaining and an easy read.

A good book with the detailed standard that is so similar to all of Bertrice Small's book.

While I normally really like her books, I didn't think this one was up to par.

The Captiva Heart returns the reader to Scotland. This time our heroine is Alix
Givet. When Henry VI goes into exile, Ali
and her father join them. The Givet's are left with a Northumbrian Baron Udolf of Wulfborn Hall. Alix marries Udolf's son as a condition for her father to be taken care of. Alix is not loved by her husband, she is despised. When her husband kills himself, Udolf decides to take her for himself. She escapes to the moors of Scotland, where she finds a family and love with Malcolm Scott. However, Udolf won't let her go and Scott has some secrets of his own. Small's writing hooks you in early and keeps you there until the final page.

I bought the book, as the description and the cover caught my interest. However after just a chapter or so, this book has me so bored I haven't been interested in continuing to read it. Overly descriptive in the wrong ways, and not captivating at all.
